Singing requires control of the diaphragm and other respiratory muscles.  Singers employ a range of techniques to help them breathe deeply and control the flow of their breath.  In order to sing at all, you need to take deeper breaths, so a 10-minute singing session in the shower or kitchen will get your diaphragm working harder than it does when you are talking.
